Day 1 at the Mulmur greenhouses- After waiting 2 days for the weather to improve I was able to get going on the 2 larger houses.
I was pressed for time as I needed to get these house up, and plants potted, before the end of day Friday. It was very fast paced work, but went incredibly well…until it didn’t.
I went into the local Hardware store in order to get the additional replacement poly for the front wall of my west greenhouse, which they sell by the foot. I do this every year and have for many years.
The gentleman at the service desk was passively vocal about not wanting to take it from the roll as it’s a 4’ wide aisle and I needed 25’. Takes some work and I know it’s a bit of a pain.
I was instead told they had the same product in rolls and it would benefit me as it was also cheaper. So after taking me to the assigned area for the product, then finding a colleague to help them find it, then back to the products area, I was provided with a roll I was assured by both was the same product.
It was in no way, shape, or form the same product as seen in the last 2 photos. Half the thickness of the house poly I usually purchase, and was already starting to tear by the time I left.
It would’ve taken less time to get me the right product than wasting my work hours with the wrong material, and having to return to the store for the ones I asked for in the first place. Please don’t waste a workers time. It’s not fair to anyone involved.
Stay tuned for the two days of planting that followed my mistake of misplaced trust, and the smiles and work that went with it! Truly a brilliant finish to a work of love!
